Mother Poem

yOU HAVE JUMPED OVER HURTLES,
YOU HAVE DRIVEN ALL OVER TOWN,
AND GONE FAR, FAR BEYOND,
YOU HAVE BENT OVER BACKWARDS,
FORWARDS AND SIDEWAYS,
AND TAKEN TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY
AGAIN, AND AGAIN, AND AGAIN.
YOU HAVE LIFTED AND HELD,
FIXED, MADE AND COOKED,
AND DONE FAVOR UPON FAVOR UPON FAVOR.
(WHETHER YOU LIKED IT OR NOT),
YOU HAVE COMFORTED AND HUGGED,
TAUGHT AND SUPPORTED,
PUSHED, FOUGHT AND FORCED,
& GIVEN A MOUNTAIN OF KISSES
ON OWIES BOTH OUTSIDE AND INSIDE.
YOU'VE BEEN STRONG AS
MOTHER NATURE HERSELF
STANDING UP AND SPEAKING OUT,
AND BEEN AS SOFT AND UNSEEN
(BUT ALWAYS KNOWN AND FELT)
AS THE COOLEST MORNING BREEZE.
MOVING POWERFULLY AND SILENTLY.

AND YOU HAVE BLESSED MY LIFE
IN COUNTLESS WAYS
BEYOND MY KNOWING, OR EXPRESSION,
AND IN THE END, YOU DID ALL OF THIS
FOR ME.
AND I THANK YOU.
