To all mah hair dyin' peeps:
*dons her old Southern lady, infomercial voice*
Friends, have you ever dyed your hair some unnatural color in the comfort of your own home, only to discover when you've done that not only has your hair been baptized in lush, luxurious pops of bizarro-world color, but that your bathroom or dying area has also? Well, have I got a solution for you! *removes tacky, over-sprayed helmet of fake, blond bouffant hair*
Toilet bowl cleaner.
...
..No, seriously.
If you catch stains early, (as in within the day or evening that you've dyed your hair), I -highly- recommend using a bit if toity-bowl cleaning solution. (I used Lysol Power brand), but I imagine just about any type would work. No lie, it scrubs those pesky stains right out! (Of course, ya don't use your toity brush, but just a sponge w/some traction like those dual-sided scrubby sponges instead.)
And if ya got a pesky stain, ya might need to give it few moments to work, or at worst give it a quick second treatment. But man.. on non-porous surfaces like tile, counter-tops and other kitcheny/bathroomy spaces, this stuff really does the trick!
I had this idea after a bout of dyeing my hair tonight, and man, am I glad I did!! I mean, t-bowl cleaner is DESIGNED to get the deep, set-in stains, right? So why shouldn't it help gettting dye stains out?? So I tried it, and IT WORKED! :D:D
This tip might already be out there on the internets somewhere; but dude, I've tried everything from a spectrum of tub, tile, bath, kitchen and all-purpose cleaners, to those new, spot-bleaching pens- and nothing else has worked. ..Let alone as well (or as completely) as this. ;)
I'm so gonna use this trick again someday. ^_^
I only wish I'd thought of it yeeeears earlier, and saved myself some grief, rowing from family n' roommates, and gotten a little more of my security deposits back. ;)
*re-dons the helmet bouffant*
Oh yes! And you know those pesky little streaks and stains one can get on the arms and hands- no matter how careful one is- when dyeing their hair or cleaning up? Well t-bowl solution can remedy that, too!
Whether you've got deep stains on your hands (even under your nails), or just a hint of a splash on your forearm from a straying strand that just doesn't wanna seem to wash away, just get a little of the solution on the problem area, give it a sec and briskly wash- rinsing thoroughly. (I had some really scrub-deterrent stains on my nails and palms from a messy cleanup, so I just used my hands to agitate the cleaning solution on the stain in the sink that I was trying to get out. I rubbed my hands for a sec on the spongy side of my cleaning implement, n' then finished washing the sink. After rinsing thoroughly I took a look at my hands, and they were un-irritated, (even though I have sensitive skin), and cleaner than they'd been a few hours ago- just after my shower! O.O
Just make sure ya don't use it on non-bleachable surfaces, or let it touch your clothes. (..Unless you wear stuff ya don't mind getting splotchy. :)) Now don't be heart-stricken when you get an errant splotch or two on your rented bathroom or kitchen counters or floors! ;D <3
Have fun dyein', and g'night, y'all!
