I just saw this wretched commercial during Adult Swim & canNOT get it out of my mind. It's by one of the two bigger anti-smoking campaigns out there, and was so awful I just wrote my two first complaint letters to any company, ever. If you're watching Cartoon Network (or, God forbid any cable station, I fear), be aware of this atrocity. It starts off with beatific shots of loving pet parents with their adorable wi'l puppies- and goes down from there.
I'll put a link to the ad here so you can judge for yourself. But if there are kids in the room or if you're easily disturbed by harsh footage that's hard to see (especially involving animals), do not watch any part of this. And if you come across it on telly, avert your eyes & turn off the sound, or change the channel. Either way, I recommend you write to the people with the "YDoYouThink" Campaign, and tell them how you feel about ads that exploit innocent animals' suffering for the purpose of cheap scare tactics.
Their videos (including the horrific ones involving beloved household pets) can be found here.
Personally, I wrote two letters & sent them off tonight. One to the YDYT people, and one to Cartoon Network itself. If you'd like to read what I wrote, see beneath the cuts. Thanks for making your voice heard- and imho, by no means should ANY children be exposed to these flagrant attempt at shock-mongering. PS This in no way is meant to be about whether or not you do or do not smoke. This is about the poor judgement and underhanded scare tactics used by a big group, and that's all. I may agree or disagree with x-company's ideals or y-organization's goals, but this kind of ad just isn't okay, and -that's- what this is about.
