thewaterling: (Do a Li'l Daaance!)
( Sep. 7th, 2011 04:33 am)

This past weekend (and Monday included) was pretty grand.  Saturday I showed Gramma how NetFlix works, n' we watched her favorite movie evar- "Arsenic & Old Lace." :)  She wants to be Aunt Abby in a local production if it were ever made, and I think she'd make a GREAT one. ^_^  It was way funnier than I remember, and we had a ball laughing through it together. ^_^  Then that night, I got to go to my first bellydancing event since living here!!  I got to talk with a few of the dancers, & most importantly, to support my local bellydance community! :D  It was a orchestrated by "Hill and Veil" bellydance classes n' group over yonder in Blacksburg, and held at the other Royal She-Sha Lounge there downtown (which was warm & PACKED, but w/a great stage we got to be really close up to, & we still had seats). :)  We stayed for the full run; which went off & on from 10pm - midnight.  And I was all dressed up for the occasion- w/pigtails, a bindi and general bellydance garb. :)

Sunday we went to Mark and Rob's place, for a grand barbecue from 5 until.. well.. whenever we felt like goin' home. *lol*  It was wonderful to see them again, and to help celebrate both their birthdays in addition to mine, which are all right near each other. :)  My gramma & mom got to meet 'em, we all got to hand together w/their friends, n' a good time was had by all. :)  (Well, except for maybe poor li'l Sydney, who has issues w/too many people coming over n' had sto stay inside during the event. :(()  We stayed late, and it was a blast. :)

Monday I shared the movie "Miranda" (another old-time movie featuring Glynis Johns-the mom from "Marry Poppins") w/Gramma, & we continued our shopping sprees (where we continued to nab little goodies for me like brand new fancy cooking pans & a bunch of Command hanging doodads- so I don't put holes in these new walls & end up getting charged for 'em).  After that we hit Red Lobster, 'cause we didn't quite know where to find Kabuki, and -everything- sounded good that night. :)  So mom, gramma and I had a Long Island Iced Tea each, and sat down to one of -the best meals- I can EVER freaking remember having.  It was PHENOMENAL. ^_^  (The leftovers of which I'm about to chow down on, as soon as I'm finished w/this. :))

After the camera scare (where I nearly got my camera lost/stolen by some hap-hazard bus boy @ RL- which thank God turned out okay :D), we hit St. Albans.  For those who don't know it, it's a former asylum and boys school here in town, that's reputedly HELLA haunted.  I got some fun pics there that I can't WAIT to show you. ^_^  It's still clearly abandoned n' had a bunch of  "No Trespassing" signs up everywhere, so we didn't go in (though I'm guessing most people just disregard those for ghost hunts n' go on in anyway), but we did circle about the place a few times to get some snazzy photos.  (Again, the aforementioned of which I am about to show you. :))

And to top it all off, just as we were nearing home, mom kept seeing some "Banjo & Fiddle Jam" signs.   We tracked them here n' there around town, n' finally ended up finding this cute little place tucked away right near main street, where there was a -great- bluegrass jam happening.  The musicians were so good, and the men who traded turns singing were awesome, too. :)  We had vanilla root beer floats for dessert while we sat n' listened (which is amazing, considering the food we'd just had at RL ;)), and ended the night on a high note all 'round, pun very much intended. ^_^  It was great, and I'm blessed as hell to have had my mom & gramma down there to spend the weekend w/me- and be there not JUST for my birthday. ^_^  Love you tow ladies.  Just mark my word, I WILL get a game night n' photography session w/you as faerie goddesses in, yet!! ;D

Love and Hugs to All!

Gratefully and Gladly, :)

Nae

Yep, September's coming back around, and I'd like to formally invite all of you out to the MD Renaissance Festival to come cavort, romp and frolic w/me and all of my wild, zany friends in celebration of my having survived another year!  It doesn't matter to me whether you come in garb or no (but garb or at least wearing something fun would be SPEEEEEFE!).  All I wanna do is see your smiling faces, and celebrate my miraculous survival w/the people I know and care about. ^_^  (Ya know.. the ones who helped get me through said previous year. ;D)

Soooooooooo:

You are hereby cordially and formally invited
to please come join me at The Maryland Renaissance Festival,
Saturday, September 5th, 2009, on "Magic Weekend,"
to Prance and Frolick & Just Generally Create a Ruckus
in Commemoration of one Oddball Chickie's Birthing Anniversary! :D

Pluuus since this date falls in under their Discounted Rates section of weekends, those in our party will be able to get in for $14 instead of the requisite $18.  Moreover, I'm not sure if it's doable, but if we get a large enough group to go, mehopes we can snag a further-discounted group rate. :D

So whether you wanna wear your jodpurs, jerkins, bodices or jeans or circle skirts, come join me in a day filled w/merriment, music, laughter, good company, great people and generally nutty Faire madness! ^_^

♥   ♥   ♥   ♥   ♥   ♥   ♥

Ooh, also:  you don't neeeeed to bring me a gift or anything if you don't want/don't have the money.  If you'd like to do something for me however in fhe way of a goodie, I would -love- pretty much anything to do w/bellydance (costuming, belts, hipscarves, skirts, headpieces, veils, earrings, etc.- in both Tribal and/or Cabaret styles), but I'm also up for help in getting to two MAJOR events coming up for me this year:  FaerieCon and BellyHorror.  (FaerieCon's in B-more this year which is -really- gonna rawk, and BellyHorror has a TON of workshops and stuff that I'd super-duper like to attend if I can.  So help on those would kick much butt, if you're of a mind. :))
If not, dassotay!  I'll just be happy to see you on Sat. if you can come by, or to get somethin' simple an' shiny  ^_^
And if not?  Well... I meant it when I said I'd trade nearly all of my closet's contents for some of the stuff from The Pyramid Collection. :)  (Especially their ruffly stoof, this DIVINE coat I just found there- which they have *gasp* IN MY SIZE! ^_^, and anything from the search when you type in the word "crystal." *chortles*)  Still need more?  Hmm..  Well I've been going gaga over Alter Ego Erotics corsets for nearly 6 years now, & wings from FancyFairy.com would TOTALLY work too, ;D *lol*  (Been wanting them since last FC, where I saw a good many people w/wings from there and wondered at how "realistic" their wings seemed. ^_^)

But seriously, if you're -really- strapped for ideas and don't know what to do.. ya don't wanna just get somethin' at Faire or deal w/any guesswork, (whether you have little to no cash and just wanna make somethin' n' just need a little nspiration, or if you wanna go all out, or whatever-) I have lists a-go-go up all over the place- like Amazon, Target, Hot Topic (thought that's just for ideas, since like everything in the list is more or less out of stock :(), and then, there's always the wondermous Kaboodle- which has -everything!!!- :D:D

Oh, and please don't take it the wrong way of my putting this up here.  I truly am just trying to help folks, and have this up for a reference for family and myself, as much as anyone else. :)  I don't mean to be crass or "give me THIS, bitches!! Myeah! >:P" in -any- way.
I just know that these things help me out a TON when I'm shopping for other people, so I try to put stuff like this up for other to help them in turn. :)  If you can't, or don't, or won't do the whole b-day gifty thing, dass fine by me, too. :)  Going out to the Melting Pot is one of my biggest b-day memories ever, and that was good because it involved my friends. ^_^

Frankly, I'd love to do everything the whole Native American way and -give- gifts for my b-day, to say "thank you" for helping me to get through another year. :):):):):)

Anywhoo, if you have any ideas, needs or questions about Saturday @ Faire, b-day stuff or just random things and whatevers, please feel free to drop me a line. ^_^

Love and Hugs to All of Yous,

Nae

This day has ROCKED!!
From quiet, "coincidental" little blessings all througbout the day, to big sweet things done like getting cake and card at my work, to going out to a wonderful sushi lunch w/my mom & getting usper presents there, this birthday has been SUPER so far. ^_^ (Well, WELL beyond my hopes & expectations... ^_^ ..Maybe that's because I didn't have any... ;) -Seriously, I honestly didn't think I'd celebrate my b-day this year... So everything's been pretty much gravy. ^_^)

My mom gave me a ROCKIN' spiked wristband, a cross necklace w/a teeny heart in it (which, admittedly isn't my style, but it's perty, so I'll wear it for her at church or Easter or something anyway :)), and this GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS diamond tennis bracelet!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D *sheer, unmittigated glee*

(Sorry for the shoddy image quality, but it's hard to take a picture of your own wrist w/a long-range camera phone. ;))

PLus my  co-worker even gave me a loverly Halloween-ish style bracelet that her daughter made, and my Gramma Maynard sent me $30!. ^_^  (Which will go to food and entrance fee into the MD Renn Faire that w'ere hitting this weekend. :D:D)

Which brings me to my second reason for posting:  On Sunday, September 7th, my family friends and I will be joyfully celebrating my birthday AT THE MARYLAND RENAISSANCE FESTIVAL. ^_^  Anyone and everyone who'd like to come is most cordially welcome, and I hope to see lots of y'all there.  :D:D  There will be much music, mayhem & merriment, & I know we're all gonna have one helk of a seriously awesome time. ^_^

Hope ya'll can join us!!
Gleefully Yours in Love and Hugs,
Nae

( Jun. 1st, 2007 05:08 am)
This weekend ROCKED. I had a great deal of fun w/plsurkity, oni_no_akuma, a few of their friends, and just a great weekend en general. Saw Pirates III, LOVED the movie- better than the other two in fact- (had a blast). Went to club, (had a blast). Played the Wii for the first time- bowled, golfed, did silly-scary bunny games, (had a blast). American Idol-karaoke'd my butt off, unlocked costumes, cheered friends on, saw Elvis, (had a blast). Went to Denny's after club and gabbed until way too late about top 5s and the like. (Had a blast.) Thanks, you guys!!! I had a wonderful time!! :D >^_^<

As soon as I got home I went away again to to a job interview. It went really well. More on that soon-ish. Things seem to be getting a bit better between me and someone dear to me. It ain't perfect or easy, but it's better, and I'm happy, 'cause it's a start. :) Saw "RV." T'was cute. Saw "When a Stranger Calls." ..Interesting flick for being based off an urban legend/ghost story from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark." :) Saw "Stick It. Not.. bad. Great music, good protagonist lines. Saw the end of Conan the Destroyer and had NOT remembered how cheeeeeeeesy it looked. OY! And I remember defending it to other Sci-Fi fans.. I should have stuff more recent on my memory before I argue for stuff anymore. ;)

And lastly, I was just posting something to a community when I saw that the music from CatDogRadio.com was playing in perfect time w/someone's silly icon, making it look like Snape was doing a flingy fashion show or commercial. ^_^ Ya can't help but laugh when a rendition of the "Love Boat" theme happens to synch up -perfectly- in time with the rhythm of an icon like this:

Night, guys!
