First off, eighties legend Patrick Swayze is fucking DEAD. He succombed Monday to pancreatic cancer, but at least had his family and friends around him. Thank Heaven for that.
I'm so sorry to see him go. :((((((((( To some the passing of MJ was a big, tragic event. For me, it was sad.. but not earth-shattering. Patrick Swayze dying however, is like.. like the death of an era for me. I don't know any other way to put that. I loved him as a kid, and grew up enjoying him, his voice, his acting, his persona in general, and looking for him in whatever works I could find. At 57, he died way, WAY too soon... ....
I still remember being in one of the huge, top floor play rooms @ my best friend Carey' Larson's house, watching "Dirty Dancing" on her small, clunky little 80's and old-timey TV, and absolutely mooning over him. I just loved that movie so much, and remembering that happy time w/my friend, in that happy place, being a kid and dreaming of what I hoped would be someday... We laughed and danced and joked and giggled.. trying to practice the moves we saw on the TV and wishing we had Johnny right there w/us... I know I was just a silly little girl, and I know full well it was just a movie, but that memory, that time.. was so precious to me, and the thought that he's passed on now just kills me. His music (albeit unsuccessful) was lovely to me, and I always looked out for other movies Patrick was in. So when he came out w/"Ghost" oh-you-KNOW-I-cried during that one- as well as after. (W/that bittersweet ending-- are you SERIOUS??? who wouldn't??) And now he's just.. gone... That totally fucking sucks. *tears up*

Next, we have a bit of madness happening in California. I'm not going to go into a big schpiel here, but if you want to know more, please feel free to click this link, and if you can do what you can to save already at-risk animals out there in CA. The governor of that state is trying to get the delay time for lost animals SHORTENED from 6 days to THREE, MEASLY FUCKING DAYS, IN ORDER TO SAVE.. MONEY!!! There's apparently no waste elsewhere that he can cut, so he's trying to shorten the time where families can find their lost family friends. *grrrrrrrr* This makes me so bloody incensed, you don't EVEN know...
So go here, read it through, and when you're done scrolling down, won't you contact the governor's office so he can hear just how many voices oppose the passing of this rediculous bill? Six days is already not much. Three days is practically NOTHING. Please help lost puppies and kitties have the respite time necessary to find their rightful, loving homes...!!!
And that's it from me, for now. I swear, I will eventually make a post about my phenomenal birthday, and about some other.. interesting things that've happened in my life recently. I hope you all are doing well, and that if not, if you need me that you'll give me a holler.
Love and Hugs to All,
NM
